Lance Ward
Best Man

Mike met Lance in undergrad at Stanford studying for mechanical engineering classes together. They became good friends as they share many interests ranging from motorcycles and snowboarding to the many flavors of Kool-Aid. As roommates in San Francisco for four years after college, Mike picked up a new accent and learned wingman skills from a true Jedi while Lance learned more than he wanted about tools and Texas. They have had adventures ranging from Tahoe to Istanbul, Texas to Vail, and Harleys to CBRs.

Mike finally has someone to laugh with outside the family who understands Erin. Pat is everything Mike could want in a brother. He is always there when Mike needs career advice and sympathizes in the McBride endurance family photo shoots.

Paul Hinkle
Groomsman

Paul and Mike met in their freshman dorm at Stanford. It is unclear whether Mike grew to trust and like Paul for his wit and charm or because Paul taught Mike to skip the keg cups and simply carry Paul's leather-gripped pitcher. That was the beginning of a life-long friendship. Paul has continued to be a mentor in all things zen, green and board. They have spent great times together surfing in SoCal, boarding in Tahoe, golfing in Palo Alto, eating pot stickers in San Francisco, and the occaisional rage until the sun comes up.

Kory Kelly

Kory was among the first witnesses to the beginning of the relationship that we now know has led to Mike and Lija's marriage. When Mike took the leap and flew to Seattle to get to know Lija a little better, Kory was the friend Lija chose to help size him up. Kory is one of Lija's oldest friends and is pretty much a brother to her. Kory and Mike liked each other immediately (thankfully) and they have spent a lot of time over the past six years waterskiing, tipping back the brews, playing pickleball, and just hanging out.

Mike Rosenthal
Groomsman

Mike met Rosie in undergrad at Stanford where they studied mechanical engineering together. Over the years, studying subsided and they became close friends and have had a lot of fun riding motorcycles, building things, breaking things, re-building things, even discussing what it would be like to build some things… They have shared many trips to Tahoe and Fallen Leaf Lake, and have fun together while Lija and Sara study 24-7. From Rosengates to dreams of gas-powered blenders, Rosie is an important part of Mike's life.

Favorite movie line: "So I said, 'Hey lama. How about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know.' and he said, 'there will be no money, but on your death bed you will receive total consciousness.' So I got that going for me . . . which is nice." (Caddyshack)

Favorite experience with McB: Among others, two places come to mind when I think McBride and Huston. Lake Tapps -- Where wood ducks once landed, once, and early morning water ski runs always sound like a great idea the night before. Lake Texoma -- Where two great states taste great together and spiders from around the world know it.
I can't live without: Sara (cause she wrote that already, not that it isn't true and all), large bodies of water, and I'm with Erin on the donut thing.
Favorite sports team: AND1
Dream job: I get to build things and then break them for a living. It doesn't get much better then that.
My perfect day: It's about 75 degrees, the sun has just set, and I'm taking just a minute to relax outside, smile about the days events, stretch out the tired muscles, enjoy a beer and get ready for a great meal with friends . . . and maybe another beer.

Doug Scott
Reader

Doug. It's hard to say enough good things about Doug. He and Mike met in business school and have shared surf and snow, wet bars and dry classrooms. They have spent hours discussing how fish tacos are a metaphor for life's journey and have spent hours watching a campfire without a word. Doug continues to be an inspiration and a friend to Mike in many ways, but most of all, he's Doug. When you get to know him, that will say it all.

Jeff Siemon
Reader

Mike and Jeff first met in undergrad at Stanford but became great friends in business school four years later. Jeff is a true athlete and fan. He's always cheering for every Stanford hoops and Notre Dame women's hoops game and has led merciless rounds of golf as well as the Business school football team to two consecutive championships. Mike and Jeff have survived rental car axle-removal on a remote trail in Mexico, weekends in Tahoe and even a retreat… Jeff taught Mike that "me winning isn't, you do".

Mike Yurochko
Groomsman

Like many puzzles of our time it is a mystery how the once preppy guy from Dallas first became such good friends with New Jersey super-sensi-tough guy, but here they are (Lance?). McB and Crotch have been friends since undergrad at Stanford and are great complements to one another. Mike Y (tough to call him by his real name here…) is a loyal friend and always organizing a great time, a bloody steak, a dry martini, and a tickets to a solid beating of Cal. Over the years, Mike Y. has played a critical role in the great "loosening up" of McB - From Reno to Vegas, San Jose to LG, Mike Y. has never stopped teaching McB the ways of Jersey and sauce.
