Mara Huston
Maid of Honor

Mara is Lija's sister and her best friend. It has been so hard this year, as Mara is traveling around the world and Lija totally misses their daily phone calls and "sisters' weekends". They've pretty much grown up doing everything together - cheerleading for dad's team, playing basketball, snowskiing, gymnastics, keeping each others secrets, and covering for each other when necessary. Of course, there were the times when they tried to do nothing together, but thankfully those days ended in the teenage years. Mara is the best because she is always there with Lija to laugh 'til they cry, shop 'til they drop, and play 'til the sun rises.

Current Town: Changes every day
Favorite movie line: My parents wanted to move me into high school out of the sixth grade, but we decided to chuck the idea because I'd have trouble making friends, blah, blah, blah. Now blah, blah, blah is all I ever do. I use my great IQ to decide what color lip gloss to wear and how to hit three keggers before curfew. (Heather's)
I'm good at: Making people laugh
I'm bad at: Mass email updates from abroad
Favorite experience with Lija: Just one out of a lifetime?! Cross-country road trip in the mini van... Sisters' weekends and calling John Capalbo... Suckering mom and dad to pick up occasional dinner tabs... and, of course, just the amazing experience of being her little sister!
I can't live without: Tomatoes
Favorite sports team: Chicago Cubbies
Dream job: Product develompent (and testing) for REI
My perfect day: A day on Lake Tapps with friends and family...waterskiing with Lija and dad at 6 am, back to bed by 7 and eventually rolling out of bed (again) for Laima's famous swedish pancakes. A little hang time before an inevitable trip to the SuperMall and then rushing home in time to meet our friends for a day on the lake... pickelball, boating, relaxing and barbecuing.

Erin McBride Crocker
Bridesmaid

Erin is Mike's older sister and has become a good friend to Lija. When they first met, Lija was thrilled to find out that Mike's sister was so awesome. (One never knows how protective the older sister will be.) Erin has always been inclusive and is a lot of fun to be around. Lija admires Erin for being successful, driven, outgoing, and social. She has been Lija's idol for being a fun married person who still goes out. (Phew - good to know that life exists!) They have spent good times together including houseboating in Oklahoma, waterskiing at Fallen Leaf Lake, running adventure races in Napa, and playing with cute Will.

Current Town: San Francisco, CA
Favorite movie line: "What's wrong with being sexy?" (Spinal Tap)
I'm good at: Throwing parties
I'm bad at: Singing
Favorite experience with Lija: Seeing Lija with Mike at their Orange Ave house after they had just moved in together and realizing that i would be forever grateful that my brother found her.
I can't live without: Laughter, hugs and kisses. And diet coke. I like donuts a lot too.
Favorite sports team: SF Giants
Dream job: Snowboarding instructor
My perfect day: One where I laugh often and love much. It would be great if I was doing this at the beach (where the waves were perfect for boogie boarding), or on a houseboat (in the sun with lots of family/friends and more beer), or in the mountains (on powder day - no friends of course), but i'm not too particular - esp if Pat and Will are involved.

Kate Gilmore
Bridesmaid

Kate and Lija first met in 1998 when Kate was interviewing at the Gap. They hit it off immediately, and Lija, on a whim, asked Kate to be her roommate. They've been great friends ever since. Spending four years together at 2289 Sutter, Kate and Lija had a blast walking up and down Fillmore, shopping, getting mani-pedis, trading clothes, trying all the new San Francisco restaurants, and taking long walks along the Marina. Kate is such a great friend because she is so loyal and always up for a good glass of wine. (And Lija loves her for her amazing sense of style.)

Current Town: Paris, France
Favorite movie line: Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while you could miss it.  (Ferris Bueller's Day Off)
I'm good at: laughing at myself
I'm bad at: speaking French
Favorite experience with Lija: Too many favorites experiences! Funniest would have to be the time the glass of the shower door broke on me and Lija tried to rescue me. Only she fainted while running down the hall grabbing, towels and calling Mike.  I actually had to stop my own bleeding and hers.  She had a huge raspberry on her forehead for days!
I can't live without: Soy lattes! PS-I am still looking for a starbucks in Paris!
Favorite sports team: UVA Cavaliers, in spite of their poor showing in every sport as of late!
Dream job: Still trying to figure that one out.  But I think it would be pretty amazing to be a travel writer with a focus on tropical locations.
My perfect day: Mani-pedi with Lija and a soy latte and then a warm day at the beach (do we have those in SF?)

Sarah Jordan
Bridesmaid

Sarah and Lija met in early 2000 at Evite. Immediately, the Evite marketing girls clicked and became a force to be reckoned with. Sarah and Lija spent all day at work together for a year and liked each other enough to start spending a lot of time outside of work together, too. From running the Relay, to girls' night at Bimbo's, to Dom Perignon lunches in Evite Heights, Lija and Sarah never run out of things to do or talk about. Lija loves Sarah for her quick wit, ability to ski the bumps, great laugh, and her spontaneity.

I can't live without: A cup of coffee in the morning to shake the cobwebs
Favorite sports team: The Boston Red Sox (maybe this is their year!)
Dream job: Owning my own restaurant or shop in Paris
My perfect day: A great day of skiing nearly won the tossup, but my perfect day would be spent with a group of good friends water-skiing, swimming, soaking up the rays, reading on the beach, barbecuing and drinking cocktails on the deck at my family's summer house on Green Lake in Maine.

Sara Rosenthal
Bridesmaid

Sara and Lija met sophomore year at Stanford. By senior year they had become good friends, spending a lot of time at Kappa social events, walking the dish, drinking margaritas, and chowing down in the eating clubs. Sara D. and Lija were roommates for a year in San Francisco (with Wolfie, too) and have continued their fabulous friendship. Now they spend all their time studying yucky finance and fun marketing as classmates at Stanford Business School. Sara D. is a great friend because of her honesty, listening skills, and her ability to make Lija laugh for hours at the tiniest things.

Kari Wallen
Bridesmaid

Kari and Lija met in 9th grade when Kari was making fun of Lija's Pee-Wee Herman wristwatch. Little did they know, the two of them would become inseparable less than 6 months later. Kari and Lija were pretty much side by side throughout all of high school - dressing up in blue and white for football games, dinners at Red Robin, commiserating about bad prom dates, videotaping, and laying out at Lake Tapps. Kari is one of Lija's oldest friends. Lija loves Kari for her sense of humor, unconditional friendship, and the fact that together they can never get tired of making fun of each other (and others, too).

Dream job: Nannying for Lija
My perfect day: laying by the pool & drinking a margarita at Lija's future house, letting the second nanny watch the kids

Sarah Wolf
Bridesmaid

Sarah and Lija met sophomore year at Stanford. They first really bonded after Tri-Sorority formal, but Wolfie had already become one of Lija's favorites because of her inclusiveness, her energy, her big smile, and because she also suffered from the same issue of trying to squeeze too many things into one day. (We can do it all, really!) They have had such great times both at Stanford and in the City including disco roll-outs, long 3 hour walks, the Dashing Divas, and planning their 5 year Stanford reunion. Lija is lucky to have Sarah close by at the Stanford Alumni Association, even though the Lija-Wolfie-Sara D lunches just don't happen often enough.

Current Town: San Francisco, CA
Favorite movie line: "The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. Its been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt, and erased again. But, baseball has marked the time. This field, this game, is a part of our past, Ray. It reminds us of all that once was good, and could be again." (Field of Dreams)
I'm good at: remembering ridiculous details and stories from high school and college, finding the dumbest things really funny, trying to fit too many things into my schedule
I'm bad at: cooking, singing
Favorite experience with Lija: coordinating and running the Relay with the Dashing Divas, 2 1/2 hour walks in San Francisco...so many awesome times at Stanford and in SF, it's too hard to pick!
I can't live without: keeping in touch with old friends, Sunday New York Times, country music, trips to Jackson Hole
Favorite sports team: Cleveland Indians
Dream job: children's book editor, coordinator of an outdoor/experiential education center for kids
My perfect day: sleeping in late, waking up to a sunny day and enjoying a latte while reading the paper, a long walk or hike in a park with a couple of the girls, dinner party with good friends, good food, and good wine that evening.
